2017/18 Hong Kong GreenMech Contest
001
Congratulations to our winner Evelyn, Bih Yeuk Nam (2016-2017 Class 6A), On 5 May 2018, four students participated in the "2017/18 Hong Kong GreenMech Contest "organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Students used STEM concepts and skills to create their own model. The title of students work was "Childhood Memories", which consisted of several game machines such as vending machine and merry-go-round. Students showed their creativity through their designs. Finally, they came second and will represent Hongkong to take part in the World GreenMech Contest in Taiwan in August.


 
2018 Electrical Model Design Contest
002
On 6 May 2018, Choi Wong Tat(1A), Lam Yuk Lun(1C), Wong Chun Lam (2B), Lui Tsz Fung Tobi(2D), participated in the "2018 Electrical Model Design Contest" organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Electrical Division.

The aim of the competition was to promote electrical engineering and understanding on renewable energy among students. Students had to show their creativity through their designs and create a solar-powered model car. S2 Water Rocket Competition
004 On 11th April 2018, all S2 students made use of limited material to design their water rockets with a parachute in groups. They tested the launching time of water rocket and finished a worksheet to learn the mechanism inside and evaluate their designs. Students enjoyed this activity and learnt some practical skills in science. Finally, the competition finished with the results as shown below:

S1 military camp 2017-18
003 All Form 1 students attended a military camp from 10th April to 12th April 2018 at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village (Ma On Shan). The purpose of the camp was to nurture their physical strength and enhance their team spirit. The camp included diverse activities, like marching and team building games. The students could not only learn to be disciplined, but also enjoy building up cooperation through the activities. During the three days, the students put much effort into producing the finale, the Grand Marching, at their graduation ceremony. Their participation and determination were much appreciated.
 
S.3 Self-actualization Learning Camp 2017-2018
005 During the All-round Learning Week, S.3 students participated in the Self-actualization Learning Camp held at Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp in Yuen Long. Upon arrival on 9th April, students were required to give up all their mobile phones and snacks so that they could be more involved in the activities. In the three-day camp, students took part in a number of class-based adventure activities that developed their teamwork, class spirit and determination to overcome challenges. For example, in a rope-course activity, students had to climb up a high pole and performed some tasks where they had to overcome the fear of heights. It was hoped that through these activities, students would develop determination to overcome any challenges ahead and to pursue their goals in the future.

Cambodia Service Trip 2018
006 Twenty-nine S4 students took part in the Cambodia Service Trip organised by the school's World Class Programme from 10th to 14th April. Before setting off, they had explored the political, economic and social issues of Cambodia in order to better understand the country.

Upon arrival, our students melted because of the scorching heat in Cambodia and their hearts melted as well when they met the adorable children at the orphan schools. During the visit, our students gave them some daily necessities and took turns to host games. Everyone had so much fun, especially when it came to the Cambodian New Year celebrations – splashing water and rubbing white powder on one another!

Singapore Science Tour
007 From 10-4-2017 to 13-4-2017, led by Mr. TIN Wan Pong, Mr. CHAU Sze Wai, Ms. CHANG Chung Ting and Ms. WONG Ching Yat, 30 students went on a science tour in Singapore.

Students carried out investigative activities in many different sites including NEWater Factory, Science Centre, Night Safari, Garden by the bay, S.E.A. aquarium and National University of Singapore.

Students has benefitted a lot from this Singapore Science tour as they had a chance to experience the Science education in Singapore. They have also gained a lot of interesting experiences while touring the city.
 
FSS Marching Band Performs for Project Marching-On
008 On 12th May 2018, our school's marching band played as accompaniment in a student marching competition called "Project Marching-On" in Kwun Tong Kung Lok Government Secondary School organized by Sau Mau Ping Police Force. After that, the band led the guests to enter the hall for the closing ceremony.




 
World Book Day
009 In support of the World Book Day on 23 April, our school library participated and organized different kinds of activities.
1. We participated in " the 4‧23 World Book Day Creative Competition" with "Our Library" as the theme.
2. We invited a well-known writer, Annie Chiang to share with our S1 students the topic "positive psychology" on April 20.
3. On 23rd and 24th April, we invited the Commercial Press to host a book fair in our School. Also, a total of 530 students voted for their favorite books and 200 students participated in a quiz to foster a reading atmosphere in the school.
 
ENGLISH STUDY TOUR TO SINGAPORE

010 Twenty-six S4 students and 4 teachers from Fukien Secondary School went on an English Study Tour to Singapore from 10th – 13th April 2018. Participants visited tourist and cultural attractions like Merlion Park, Clarke Quay, Little India, Gardens by the Bay and Chinatown, where they were able to enjoy the sights of Singapore as well as learn about the history of these places.

Learning and understanding cultural differences is important for personal development. Students took this opportunity to appreciate the local culture by visiting the ArtScience Museum and joining a cooking class. There was also an opportunity to find out more about Singapore's education system through a visit to the Singapore Institute of Management, a higher education establishment.
